Can Chiropractic help your digestive system?
Your digestive system is a long tube that begins at your mouth and ends at the end of your large intestine. It has one purpose; to break down your food and extract nutrients from it that will provide the energy to make your body function. Your digestive organs have different names for the positions they occupy along this tube. They are called your esophagus, stomach, small intestine and large intestine.
Many problems can occur throughout the digestive tract (tube) for many different reasons. Heartburn occurs when the food reverses course and jumps up from the stomach to the esophagus. Gastritis is a term used to describe the condition of inflammation of the stomach walls. Pyloric stenosis is the shrinking or tightening of the valve that connects the stomach to the beginning of the small intestine called the duodenum. Some people have problems with chronic stomach ache called nervous stomach or dyspepsia. When problems such as these get worse ulcers can form because of the stomach acid eating through the wall of the stomach.
What can a Chiropractor do for such problems? He or she can make sure your nervous system is functioning as well as possible. The Chiropractor will make sure that whatever is interfering with your nervous system causing these problems is corrected. When the misalignments of the spine are corrected and the pressures reduced and removed the body can once again return to normal health and function. The job of the Chiropractor is to ensue that your stomach and the rest of your digestive system, as well as your entire body, are receiving the proper nerve supply as close to 100% as possible. Remember if the nerves are being pinched by misalignments of the spine,… only a Chiropractic adjustment can correct these misalignments.
